About High Thorn

At high thorn we design and manufacture chandeliers and other furniture pieces. All our products are handmade with love and care in Kyalami, Johannesburg, South Africa.

We are always experimenting with new designs but we primarily work in two materials: the first is wood and the second is leather. We have been working with these versatile materials for over ten years and we still come up with new ways of showcasing them and still get excited about every product that we create.

We have supplied many lodges, hotels, retail stores and restaurants and interior designers as well as the public.

We have worked with And beyond lodges (previously CCAfrica) for years, we have supplied Hotels such as the St Regis Hotel in Abu Dhabi and Restaurants such as Nandos and shops such as Scout Hollywood and many, many more over the years.

Handmade

Our Wood

We source our twigs from tree fellers. We use primarily Jacaranda wood which is an invader species in S.A. We only take twigs from trees that have been cut already. All wood is dipped in an anti-fungal, anti-borer dip for a few days before we use it.

Each piece of wood is peeled by hand and once it is dipped it is ready to be turned into something magnificent.
